Having born to a business family, entrepreneurship was in his blood. Kavin was passionate about building amazing products. The urge to build something for the mobile internet space kept him awake way back from his college days itself. Realising that his interests doesn't lie in deep engineering, he started thinking of ways to build things. His first startup, AppSpark was founded at 20, during his final year of college.</div>

iPhone had just hit the market then when he visited New York as a Google summer intern. Apple had just launched the AppStore and he immediately sniffed a huge opportunity there. He roped in his friend and planned to launch apps for this new platform. After working their fingers to the bone for eight months, they came up with the first ever movie ticket reservation app for iOS called Movies Now. He developed another app called Foodster to suggest popular items on the restaurant menu. The success of these apps fired his entrepreneurial appetite further.</div>

It was while enjoying the street food in an alley at Connaught Place in 2011, Mittal Jr had the spark to build a messaging app for the Indian market. He realised that while he had an iPhone, all the vendors around him had Nokia 1100 and had no idea what the internet was. He thought of ways to get them online. Kavin partnered with Bharti Softbank, Tiger Global and did his R&D towards building something “cheap and easy to use and communicate” - something inexpensive and easily understandable to bring people online. He was on a mission to bring India online. This is the birth story of the second most used application in the voice calling and instant messaging space in India, Hike.</div>

The interest towards telecom sector is natural for the son of Sunil Mittal, one of the leaders of the Indian telecom industry. Just that he chose to play a whole new ball game in the same field which his dad had conquered. The initial funding was $21 million from Bharti Softbank and $65 million from Tiger Global. Hike went from zero to five million users by March 2013. By July 2014, Hike was the most downloaded application on India's Apple App Store and the Google Play store. In 3 years time, Hike shot to become the largest Indian internet company by users.</div>

According to the recent stats, Hike has crossed 100 million user mark, has 40 billion messages exchanged per month on the platform, is valued at $1.4 billion and has raised $175 million. Bharti, SoftBank, Tiger Global, Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings, manufacturing firm Foxconn Technology Group, Silicon Valley’s Quora CEO Adam D’Angelo, WordPress Co-founder Matt Mullenweg along with Aditya Agarwal and Ruchi Sanghvi of Dropbox have invested in Hike. Hike was the first messenger to roll out payments in India. Building engagement with young India through localisation of features and services for the Indian market is what makes Hike unique from its competitors. It strategically took the local route to success. It localized the app so deeply to the smallest part of the country touching the diverse nature of the country. Hike is not just another messaging app but it has much more like stickers, privacy, news, scores, games, etc. The success of Hike also marks the rise of products made in India for the Indian market.</div>

Kavin had his own share of downs and failures. Hike was all set to shut down not once, but twice – in 2013 and 2014 due to low traction and usage. But he never stepped back. He came forth and faced it. Being the son of an industry leader did not restrict him from experimenting new stuffs. With the patience of the investors and his strong belief in the idea made him bounce back with a bang. “Fearing failure is a good thing as long as it drives and motivates you. It should not be the dominant thing. The pressure of success is so high that itself can detriment a lot of people to talk about ideas. Hope we can provide inspiration to the next generation of companies”, he says.</div>

Kavin had made use of every opportunity of internship that came his way and built an outstanding resume along with his graduation. He has interned with McLaren Racing, Google and Goldman Sachs during his college days. When this huge Formula One fan interned at the British Formula One team, McLaren in 2006 his contribution towards embedding a technology that would show the track flags on steering wheels was praiseworthy. He showed up at Google as intern for next summer and instantly got attracted to the informal work culture there.</div>

Coding fascinated him quite early. He started writing codes when he was all of fifteen. He was always a speed lover too. He had racing simulators fitted at home during his childhood days. Later, he was a part of the college go-kart and cricket team. He was also the drummer for a rock band in college. A follower of Zen Buddhism, Kavin starts his day with 15 to 30 minutes of meditation. And sometimes in the afternoon too; in the meditation room of his office. Having built a start up successfully, he actively involves in the start-up community.</div>

A son's first hero is his dad. Apart from his father, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and former Austrian Formula One driver Niki Lauda are his inspirations. Amit returned home after working in US for nearly two decades to take charge as the first President of Uber India and South Asia at a time when Uber was facing negative image in the market as a result of some allegations; and tough competition from its local competitors. At Uber, a company that tends not to appoint country heads, rather empowering team leaders for cities, Amit takes care of business strategy, operations and business growth marking a milestone not just in the history of Uber, but also on his career life.</div>

Having started it's operations in India with just 3 employees three years ago, Uber has come a long way. Amit envisions to get to a point where nobody needs to buy a second car, or even a first car, because there is Uber. One of his lead projects as president of Uber India is to bring on 50,000 women drivers in the country by 2020. He sees this as quite challenging and exciting at the same time.</div>

Amit was in the forefront in engaging with government across all levels to overcome the regulatory challenges that Uber and its counterparts face. He strives to strike a balance between ensuring regulatory compliance and providing smooth ride for driver partners and customers.</div>

At IIT, he was the captain of the Athletics team for two years in a row. With interests in studies, sports, arts and music, he is a true all rounder. He had received the Director’s Silver Medal and best all-rounder award while at school. He has taken his passion to international level by representing India in International Computer Programming competitions twice - at Indonesia and Singapore while at college. Playing the musical instrument, Santoor is another one among his favourites and have had the opportunity to play the same in the TV channel, Doordarshan. He is also a squash enthusiast and enjoys a 30 minute squash every evening to unwind.</div>

 asked about his hero in an interview, John fondly remembers his dad. 
John spent his summer holidays working for the small business his father
 owned. The most important lesson he learned from the words and actions

irrespective of his position. Another valuable life lesson from his dad 
was to maintain the personal integrity. Personal integrity as a critical
 success factor for an individual is also something which he emphasises 
and passes along in all his speaking engagements with the young 
professionals today. He also remembers his mentors who took him under 
their wing and invested their time to point in the right direction which
 helped him develop much quicker than he would have otherwise.</div>

was venturing into to support the homeless. He took the notes from the 
street to his professional as well as personal life. He had also joined 
hands with Stand-up for Kids, a non-profit that distributes survival 
kits and a hotline number to homeless youth. His efforts were recognised

Sajjan
 has always supported the growth of the steel industry. JSW Steel is 
India's leading primary integrated steel producer and one among world's 
most illustrious steel companies. The journey to be the leader of the 
industry was not a smooth one. He has led the group through many 
exciting events – good times, global turbulence, uncertainty and 
challenges. He promoted Jindal Iron and Steel Company Ltd. (JISCO), for 
manufacturing of Cold Rolled and Galvanized Sheet Products in 1989, 
Jindal Vijaynagar Steel Ltd. (JVSL), JSW Energy Ltd. (JSWEL), Jindal 
Praxiar Oxygen Ltd. (JPOCL) and Vijaynagar Minerals Private Ltd. (VMPL).
 After a decade, in 2005, his steel companies, JISCO, and JVSL, were 
merged to form JSW Steel, and a holdings group of the same name.</div>

Going
 through the statistics, Sajjan Jindal-led JSW Steel has recorded its 
highest-ever crude steel production at 15.80 million tonnes during 
2016-17, breaking earlier records. This is 25 per cent more than what

Sajjan
 Jindal is a strong believer and advocate of the concept of “Make in

are planned around his dream of a self-reliant India. A strong believer 
that development of the country and protection of the environment must 
go hand in hand, the JSW Group runs some of the most energy efficient

state of the art manufacturing units in Vijayanagar, Dolvi, Kalmeshwar,

endangering the fragile environment. As one grows older, one becomes 
wiser and wants to give back to the society. It makes us feel good about
 ourselves, says Sajjan Jindal. To make positive changes in the lives of
 underprivileged people, he and his wife started JSW Foundation.</div>

 took a leap forward and surprised the Salboni farmers in West Midnapore
 district in Kolkata by offering free company shares as a token of

<strong>Entrepreneur brothers...</strong></div>

Two
 among the four sons of the late industrialist Om Prakash Jindal, Sajjan
 Jindal and Naveen Jindal run their own businesses in the same sector as
 Naveen’s Jindal Steel and Power and Sajjan’s JSW Steel. They run their 
own parallel dynasties without competing with each other. Fraternal 
squabbles are unheard of among Jindal brothers, unlike in many other 
business families. “The way our group functions, we brothers are at the 
helm of affairs, but it is a very professionalised company. None of us 
sits on each other’s boards. We have a pretty independent structure but 
we share the wealth among the four of us equally”, says Sajjan Jindal.</div>

<strong>Diversification...</strong></div>

Under
 the leadership of Sajjan Jindal, JSW Group is no more a company dealing
 in steel alone. JSW Steel has 18 million tonnes per annum capacity in 
Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and is enrooted to achieve its 40 
million tonne capacity expansion by 2025. With roots as strong as steel 
in the steel industry, JSW Group is on a diversification drive expanding
 its activities to new horizons. It is already spread across the 
landscape of infrastructure building, sports and cement manufacturing. 
It has recently announced of investing 100 billion rupees in non-banking
 financial space and is also planning to venture into electric cars by 
2020. Discussions on new ideas like electric two wheeler are under 
pipeline.</div>

Sajjan Jindal stays in 
Mumbai with his wife Sangita Jindal and their three children Parth 
Jindal, Tanvi Shete and Tarni Handa. Sangita is the Chairman of the JSW 
Foundation and Jindal Arts Centre. The third generation is business 
ready and is slowly taking off now.</div>

When not at work, he loves 
being at home in the company of his family. An avid lover of sports, 
Sajjan Jindal was the chairman of India’s top football tournament, the 
I-League, from 2010 to 2012. He is also looking at acquiring an IPL 
franchisee in the near future. Squash is his most favourite way of 
unwinding. He is an avid marathon runner. Apart from engineering and 
sports, Sajjan has deep interest in nature, arts and culture.</div>

shifted gears to enter the then hot and happening IT industry. He joined
 as an HTML designer / Software Programmer at an early stage internet 
start-up India World (netCORE) in August 1998. Since he was not from IT 
field, he had to put in a lot of efforts to learn software programming 
and the management on the go. As the company was a start-up, the job was
 not restricted to a single profile and he had to multi task.</div>

Slowly
 and steadily, he gained knowledge with the help of the experienced 
seniors who he fondly remembers as his mentors. He learned to work with

and head out for that well-deserved break to remain invigorated, more 
productive and get a refreshing approach towards life.</div>

She took her own time to evolve as a person before coming to the spotlight as the next generation member of HCL.<br /><br />HCL under her...<br /><br />Roshni Nadar returned from US and expressed interest in joining the Corporation. At 27, she joined HCL, bringing in new energy and innovation and started to understand the business. She started off with involving with the corporation's treasury operations, in brand-building and the social initiatives and was slowly made part of the strategic decision-making process. Within a year, she was on boarded as the Executive Director and CEO of HCL Corporation. She was all of 28 then. Age is only a number and is relative in some sense! Coming from a non - tech background, she had a hard time understanding the jargons and the business of the Indian IT industry when she was inducted to the Board of HCL Technologies in 2013. But she left no stones unturned to pick things up quickly.<br /><br />As the CEO and Executive Director of the $7.5 billion enterprise, Rashmi spearheads the business of the company and is responsible for strategic decisions regarding the overall direction of the organisation. Under her leadership, HCL broadened its horizons and ventured into new domains. HCL Healthcare and HCL TalentCare were born respectively in 2014 and 2015. Through this, Roshni is stepping out from her dad's shadow and is building something unique on her own. Roshni has set forth to extend the presence in the areas of economic growth.<br /><br />HCL Corporation spread out its wings to health care field with HCL HealthCare. HCL TalentCare is an talent solutions company which makes graduates job ready for sectors such as IT, banking, insurance and healthcare by addressing the entry level employability needs in India. They have two sons.<br /><br />Juggling between the roles of a mom, wife, daughter and employer, Roshni enjoys travelling, music and yoga. She is a trained classical musician.
