சென்னையைச் சேர்ந்த 14 வயது பள்ளி மாணவர் ஒருவர் கூகுள் நிறுவனத்தின் சமூக மாற்றத்திற்கான விருது வென்றிருக்கின்றார். மீனவர்கள் பாதுகாப்பிற்கான கருவி ஒன்றை வடிவமைத்தமைக்காக கூகுள் நிறுவனம் இந்த விருது வழங்கியுள்ளது. இதற்கான அறிவிப்பு கூகுள் நிறுவனம் சார்பில் செவ்வாய்க் கிழமையன்று வெளியிடப்பட்டது.

சென்னையின் நேஷனல் பப்ளிக் பள்ளியில் 10ஆம் வகுப்பு படிக்கும் ரமேஷ் 20 பேர் அடங்கிய இறுதி போட்டியாளர்கள் பட்டியலில் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இறுதி போட்டியாளர்களுக்கு கூகுள் சார்பில் $50,000 அதாவது இந்திய மதிப்பில் ரூ.3360497.50 மதிப்பிலான உதவித்தொகை வழங்கப்பட இருக்கின்றது.


'கூகுள் கம்யூனிட்டி இம்பாக்ட் விருது எனக்கு மிகவும் முக்கியத்துவம் வாய்ந்ததாகும். இதன் மூலம் அதிகம் கற்று கொள்வதோடு எனது எண்ணங்களை மேலும் மேம்படுத்தவும் உதவியாக இருக்கும்,' என ரமேஷ் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

ரமேஷ் மீனவர் பாதுகாப்பிற்கு வழி செய்யும் வகையில் 'FishErmen Lifeline Terminal (FELT)' என்ற தலைப்பில் புதிய கருவி ஒன்றை வடிவமைத்திருக்கின்றார். இந்தக் கருவியானது இந்தியாவின் ஐஆர்என்எஸ்எஸ் செயற்கைக்கோள் வழங்கும் நேரடி ஸ்டான்டர்டு பொசிஷன் சர்வீஸ் Standard Position Services (SPS) பயன்படுத்தி மீனவர் பாதுகாப்பினை உறுதி செய்யும்.

'ராமேஸ்வரத்தில் மீனவர்கள் இலங்கை கடற்படையினரால் அடிக்கடி தாக்கப்படுவது, கைது செய்யப்படுவது குறித்த செய்திகளை படித்திருக்கின்றேன். கடலில் அதிக நேரம் செலவழிக்கும் மீனவர்கள் இது போன்ற பிரச்சனைகளில் இருந்து தங்களை காத்துக் கொள்ள இந்தக் கருவி உதவும்' என ரமேஷ் மேலும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார்.

  Google India has announced the winner of the Google Community Impact Award, with Advay Ramesh from Chennai bagging the first prize from Asia. The 14-year-old boy won the theme based award part, which is a part of Google Science Fair 2016.

Google Community Impact Award received projects from over 107 countries. The award recognises projects that make a difference in community by addressing an environmental, health or resources challenge.

Advay’s project titled ‘FishErmen Lifeline Terminal (FELT)’ won him $10,000 in funding and a year-long mentorship from Scientific American. The project looks at how to enhance fishermen safety and productivity using GPS (Global Positioning Services).

“Winning the Google Community Impact Award means a lot to me, it would help me learn more and develop my idea further,” Advay said.

Advay’s project titled ‘FishErmen Lifeline Terminal (FELT)’ won him $10,000 in funding and a year-long mentorship from Scientific American.

  Advay Ramesh is a student of National Public School, Chennai and studies in 10th standard. He has also been shortlisted as one of the top 20 finalists to compete for a Grand Prize worth $50,000 in scholarship.

“Young minds are inventive, thoughtful, and determined to try things that other people think are “impossible.” It’s imperative for us to support and encourage these young people to explore and challenge the world around them through scientific discovery. Through the Google Science Fair, we want to encourage and support the next generation of scientists and engineers” said a Google spokesperson.

Google selected top 100 ideas out of thousands of projects submitted. This includes 14 projects from Indian students. The top 16 global finalists will join Google in Mountain View on September 27 for their sixth annual Awards Celebration.
