This power-woman of the Indian industry is very much a 
chip of the old-block. That is to say that her zeal, drive, and 
determination match that of her father’s (Dr. B.V. Rao who is known as 
the ‘Father of the Indian Poultry Industry) - to not only retain the 
status of Venkateshwara Hatcheries Group (also called as Venky’s) as the
 premier companies in the country organized poultry sector but also to 
make life easier for the thousands of farmers who have aligned their 
lives with those of poultry industry’s players. That is why she is often
 referred to as the “Voice of the Indian Poultry Industry).</div>

Of 
course along the way she has added her own flavors to the style of 
leadership and functioning while retaining to a great extent her 
father’s stamp.</div>

That she was introduced to the world of poultry 
when she was barely a teen during which period, it is said, she spent 
most of her time on the family’s farms rather than playing with children
 of her age or indulge in activities other children did. Instead she was
 engrossed with birds – doing things like feeding them and getting 
herself acquainted with the nitty-gritty of poultry hygiene.</div>

Looking
 at the promise that his young daughter exhibited, it was perhaps a 
master-stroke by Dr. Rao in entrusting the mantle of taking forward the 
business and to his daughter. For she excelled in not only living upto 
her father’s expectations, she even did what many may not have thought 
possible – presided over the functioning of well over a dozen company’s 
within the group as well as without it and made a success of a 
multi-activity businesses.</div>

<strong>Education and entry into the family business</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Desai
 has law graduate and that serves her cause well what with the country 
as indeed its poultry industry moved to the world stage, entailing a 
plethora of legalities for exporters triggered by the World Trade 
Organisation (WTO) regime. She did her Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the
 University of Pune.</div>

She was brought into the family business in 
1988 by her father who had immense faith and conviction in her 
capabilities and was also inducted into the board subsequently.</div>

<strong> Loss and Legacy of a legend</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
What
 Dr. B.V. Rao did to the Indian poultry industry is unparalleled in the 
history of the country’s business echelons. He was the architect of 
unifying the country poultry sector and more than that brought a set of 
standards and practices that provided a level-playing field for all the 
poultry players of the country. He had imbibed the same qualities in all
 of his children, especially his daughter, Anuradha.</div>

It wasn’t 
surprising then that the great visionary and of one the most successful 
entrepreneurs of the county (he had moved to the city of Pune from his 
native Andhra Pradesh to set up a small chick hatching business with a 
couple of friends, which eventually grew into the large conglomerate 
that we now know as Venky’s) considered Anuradha as the natural choice 
if it ever came to leadership of the group.</div>

That day did come in 
her life in 1996 when Dr. Rao passed away and the mantle of overseeing 
the already leading poultry business in the country into the 21st 
century and beyond.</div>

<strong> At the helm…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Anuradha 
Desai became the Chairman and Managing Director of the Venkateshwara 
Hatcheries Group in 1996 and right after assuming the responsibility, 
some of her initial tasks were to make sure the group recoups from the 
loss of the patriarch and founder – which she did with help from her 
brother Venkatesh Rao and Balaji Rao.</div>

Then she set about putting 
into place plans for growth of the company as well as expansion into 
various other affiliated and external business fields. Today the company
 is diversified into around 30 fields poultry, processed food, animal 
vaccines, pharma and healthcare products.including eggs, egg powder, 
poultry feed, animal feed, vaccines, biotech, R&D, even wine 
distribution and entertainment, and now even sports (with the 
acquisition of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, a reputed English 
football club in the top football division of the country). In fact, she
 even orchestrated the launch of ‘Venky's Express’, a ready to eat 
chicken outlet from the group whose first outlet was opened in Pune 
(Akon performed at the opening event).</div>

One of the many things she 
did was to improve the company’s chicken (Venky’s Chicken) export 
business besides of course fighting for the rights of domestic farmers 
who were up against global competition when the country open up for 
global players to ply their trade across various industry segments.</div>

A
 campaigner and pillar of strength for the domestic chicken market, she 
uses everything in her power to help local farmers in their fight 
against so many problems such as disease outbreaks, foreign companies 
entering into the market and making a dent into their revenues, etc. 
just like her illustrious father did. So, one should not be puzzled if 
one came to know the fact that the group’s listed company (Venky’s) 
supplies chicken to groups like KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino's, etc. (of 
course, this besides the fact that Venky’s supplies 80% chicks to 
farmers and hatcheries in the country)!</div>

<strong> Leadership roles elsewhere</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While
 she and her husband Jitendra Desai (an accomplished Chartered 
Accountant) and her brothers Venkatesh and Balaji are always yearning to
 maintain the stability and the momentum of the company, Desai herself 
is recognized by many for her visions and thought leadership and hence 
has been asked to lead many other companies in whatever capacity she 
can. And why not – figure this – under her leadership, VH has grown to 
become the largest fully-integrated poultry group in Asia, with its 
operations are spread across 20 countries.</div>

So it isn’t surprising 
that she helms the affairs of many companies by being their respective

<strong> Strategic Move…</strong></div>

Around the 
year 2010 (almost a decade-and-half after she took over the reins of the
 group from her father), with a view to carry forward the expansion 
drive to overseas markets where although they have a decent enough 
presence, the company and Desai were looking at widening its consumer 
interface.</div>

One of the ways was to expanding Venky’s XPRS fast food
 franchise (a kind of down-market KFC) but that didn’t give it the ideal
 mileage expected of a global player. Thus, Desai and her team, 
strategized a new plan to grow the business in three identified 
continents (Europe, Asia and Africa). It was to identify major sports 
properties and assets to attain brand visibility.</div>

Thus after much 
deliberation and R&D, the group bought Blackburn Rovers Football 
Club, a reputed English football club from the English Premier League.It
 was a really strategic move by Desai and Co.:simply because Indians are
 the largest minority group in the Lancashire town of Blackburn, and if 
you are looking to connect with a community, then what better way than 
buying out the local football team?</div>

While it didn’t prove to be 
the success Desai had hoped it to be (from a sporting sense), what she 
did achieve by this acquisition was to accomplish what bigger Indian 
Conglomerate such as the likes of Reliance and Sahar could not do.</div>

<strong>In the news…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Expectedly,
 not everything she has done has been met with approval or success. And 
some of it courted controversy as well. For example, while the first 
season after acquiring (Blackburn Rovers) was OK- they avoided 
relegation, what the clubs supporters and fans didn’t like was the way 
managers were being hired and fired by the owners which lead the club 
being relegated to 2nd division (championship). This hasn’t gone down 
well with just about anyone that has got anything to do with the club 
(except the owners). Then there was the Avian flu issue – Desai had in 
the past (1990s) successfully campaigned and protected the interest of 
Indian farmers by opposing the import of chicken from other countries 
citing hygiene and risk associated with it (she said the outsiders were 
delivering unsold or rejected stock to the country). While that was good
 and strengthened her position with farmers as well as the 
establishment, there were accusations flying high about VH supplying 
infected birds to farmers in Navapur village of Mahrashtra's Nandurbar 
district.</div>

Of course, as always, she braved the tough times and 
brought VH out of the slime by coming clean on the issue. ("If we had 
supplied infected birds we would shy away any such idea. Besides, isn't 
it against our own interest to supply such stock to farmers?" – was what
 she had said). That’s the sign of a true leader.</div>

Suchi Mukherjee is a women entrepreneur who has been

largest horizontal classifieds business in just two years. The company

 she got the idea of creating his website post the birth of her second 
child one day when she was flipping through a fashion magazine and a 
piece of jewelry had caught her eye. Then she started her own company 
and founded LimeRoad, which is her own venture. She is also the CEO of 
LimeRoad website. It has received various rounds of funding and can 
sustain the business as it is now which is highly commendable as very 
few startups become successful.</div>

The company founded by Suchi and 
her co-founders target the women audiences, who have a craze forshopping
 trendy clothes and accessories. The website offers a range of enticing 
accessories, bewitching apparel, and alluring jewelry. Suchi says that 
“At Limeroad, online shopping is not about deal hunting. It is more 
about having a great experience while shopping for "hatke" products. 
Users create scrapbooks in which they put together looks by mixing and 
matching different product combinations and sharing with others who can 
browse through them and discover interesting looks. "We have set up 
eight regional teams of photographers to showcase their inventory of 
sellers across the country. We offer sellers support such as 
photography, cataloguing and other services. We are at the same time 
also training our top sellers to meet orders on their own by dispatching
 them directly to the customers," she adds.</div>

LimeRoad is the India’s first social visual web platform with some of 
the highest engagement metrics on social platforms relative to all other
 web 1.0 ecommerce sites in India. Suhi realized that social interaction

the LimeRoad experience and hence the stickiness.</div>

Born in 
Kenya to a migrant Indian family, Desai spent most of his childhood in 
Mombasa before moving on to Ahmedabad (in the western state of Gujarat, 
India) to pursue schooling. He did his Bachelor of Technology course in 
Electrical Engineering from the prestigious Indian Institute of 
Technology (IIT, Mumbai). Like most first generation entrepreneurs we 
have seen, Desai too felt the need to equip himself with management 
education and exposure the business world from a global perspective. To 
be able to do that, he completed an MBA (Finance) course from the 
Stephen M Ross School of Business, University of Michigan.</div>

<strong>The TCS stint</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Desai
 joined TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) India’s foremost and number one 
IT firm for a monthly salary of Rs. 769 (about $12-13 in present day). 
Although he worked three for only a brief period, he picked up the 
nuances of running a business and especially a model that he would later
 employ to great effect after founding Syntel.</div>

<strong>The enterprising duo / couple</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After
 the short stint at TCS, Desi came to America on an assignment for TCS 
and met his future wife, Neerja Sethi there (has a master’s in computer 
science from the OaklandUniversity). They hit it off well while working 
for the Indian technology premier and soon it turned into wedlock.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
One
 would expect a newly-wed couple to fully utilize whatever time 
available towards marital bliss. But not the Desai-Sethi couple. What 
they did instead, being the technocrats they were and being nurtured at 
TCS, they founded an IT company by the name Syntel, Inc. with an initial
 investment of a mere $2000 Since it wouldn’t suffice to pay for the 
bills of even one employee much less pay for office rent and expenses, 
the couple started operating out of their home in Troy (Michigan).</div>

<strong> Early struggle, hardships, and naysayers</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The
 first year operations brought them a sale of just $30,000 – which was 
almost next-to-nothing if one considered the operating expenses they’d 
have to meet. In fact, many prospects as well as people they met along 
their path towards entrepreneurship did everything to discourage them 
from opting this apparently disastrous path. Some shooed them away 
asking them never to come back again even in the premises of the 
companies, while others dissuaded by just saying stop kidding and stick 
what you are – an ordinary programmer – as they thought it might 
difficult to do something that Desai envisaged in America, amongst 
Americans companies some of which were already established with a long 
list of clients.</div>

But being made of sterner stuff and having seen 
the success of the business model at TCS in-person, Desai as well Sethi 
were convinced and, hence, all the more determined to make it a success.
 The initial resistance and not-so-cool welcome to their business was a 
dampener for sure. It hurt them. Pushed them to the wall. And put them 
down along with their aspirations.</div>

All this was transient. As, 
regardless of what, the gritty couple continued pushing forth their 
business. Their persistence, perseverance, and hard-work coupled with a 
bit of luck, they turned so many leaves over, proved the naysayers 
wrong.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Their relentless quest for delivering quality while staying
 small and nimble which sort of went well with clients wanting 
flexibility as well as performance. Venture funding was not as 
aggressive back then as it is nowadays and companies had to really slog 
it out and deliver before they had a buy in investors. Unlike now where 
you show a glimpse of what is possible as well as the promise of 
multi-fold returns draws many Venture Capitalists flocking to your doors
 (of course, one must have the clear differentiator of an idea).How 
difficult it was start-ups back-then (only they were not called as 
start-ups, though) is evident from the fact that even after 10 years 
into operations, Desai’s Syntel wasn’t able to get a line of credit from
 banks.</div>

And so it was that Desai and Syntel had to do everything 
in their capacity to not only bring in clients but also to succeed and 
sustain. Any other mortal would have probably crumbled at this prospect –
 no ground support (especially when pitted against local companies that 
already had a head-start), no capital to support even the basic 
day-to-day operations much less brining in top talent and thinking of 
expansion and diversification, and on top of everything, there weren’t 
many who knew you even existed – such was the scenarioback in the early 
days of the information technology revolution.</div>

Desai’s leadership 
and vision coupled with a few smart moves and his unflinching belief in 
the promise of information technology (in his own words, "I did know 
that the industry (information technology and outsourcing) was going to 
grow significantly and with the right moves, we could outpace the 
overall industry growth and we have been fortunate.")and the continuous 
supportive role played by his family throughout, ensured that he and 
Syntel succeeded to become a public listed company by 1997.</div>

The 
mantra that Desai applied was find an underserved market segment and 
become really good at it, if you are not already one, commit towards 
serving it well and work very hard. In the process, making sure that 
customers really think highly of your vis-à-vis your niche service / 
offerings, was a must.  They identified the niche to be health-care and 
life-sciences to be those areas and relentlessly focused on them. Of 
course, there were other verticals also in which Syntel worked such as 
That besides Desai also made sure that Syntel had one more USP - build 
collaborative partnerships and deliver innovative solutions that spanned
 beyond business benefits.</div>

Along the way, the company had to 
endure, like most in the industry, the 2008 economic crisis. Desai and 
co.weathered the storm and how.It is a fact that owing to the down-turn 
almost all businesses (including obviously Syntel’s clients) were on a 
cost-cutting and austerity drive. While this would have meant peril for 
most companies, what allowed Syntel to not only stay afloat but also do 
reasonably well was its pro-activeness in helping clients to manage 
costs through a combination of efforts such as employing incremental 
outsourcing andleveraging additional offshore capabilities that lead to 
increased productivity and rate reductions. And what it meant for 
Syntel? While many of the initiatives reduced client costs, they also 
provided enhanced margins to Syntel.</div>

That’s is but just one of the
 many evidences of Desai shrewd business sense as well as visionary 
self. One of his other visionary endeavours was to set-up offshore units
 in India to make use of considerably lower wagers prevailing in the 
country. In that sense, Syntel proved to be one of the pioneers of the 
Indian IT and ITES outsourcing industry along with the erstwhile Patni 
Computers.</div>

The company at the time of the melt-down had a 
market-cap of $2.7 billion – no mean feat for an upstart that began with
 nothing and operating with a shoe-string budget for a good decade after
 its inception. Under Desai’s leadership, today the company has about 
23,000 employees, revenues of about a billion USD, and net income of 
around $60 million providing integrated technology and business services
 and has won more than a dozen awards.</div>

This man’s career could well go down as one of the most 
complete professional sagas of our times, if not all time. Simply put, 
Arun Kumar, the Chairman and CEO of KPMG in India, has traversed an 
entrepreneurial and professional journey like very few in the history of
 the modern world have. He started off at what could probably be termed 
as the best grooming ground for Indian executives – the Tata 
Administrative Services (TAS) right after graduation from the Kerala 
University. The half-decade spent at the country’s leading conglomerate 
not only taught him the nitty-gritty of the Indian industry but also 
introduced him to a world beyond the seas which was as yet unexplored by
 most of the country’s aspiring young talents.</div>

So he left for the 
United States in 1978 to pursue a course in business management from the
 world renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) - Sloan 
School of Management in 1980 – where he realized his potential to be an 
entrepreneur. From then on it was a spate of founding companies and 
succeeding in the early days of the computer revolution which were 
followed by a very long first stint at one of the world’s leading 
professional services company – KPMG. Through the course of his almost 
two decades he assumed responsibility of many positions and delivered in
 each of them before finally a role with the Obama administration 
(yes!!) beckoned and he, like everywhere else before, delivered and 
delivered how?</div>

<strong>Education & Life at TAS…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Arun
 Kumar did his schooling from the Lawrence School, Lovedale (Kerala) 
through the early-to-mid 1960s. Then he did he completed his Bachelor of
 Science Degree (Physics) from University College, University of Kerala,
 Trivandrum in 1972. That he had leadership qualities was evident from 
the activities he was involved in since his college days where he 
co-founded the Science Society of Trivandrum.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Right after 
graduation he joined the Tata Administrative Services (TAS) where he got
 selected into the central management cadre of the Tata group – then, as
 well as now, one of the leading business houses of the country.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

This
 allowed him to gain much perspective in the company’s subsidiary 
business such as auto, steel, exports, and beverages. In fact, he also 
got introduced to the future chairman of the group Ratan Tata under whom
 Arun worked at Nelco – the electronics subsidiary of the group.</div>

This
 was quite an engagement for the young Arun Kumar as it allowed him 
assist Ratan Tata while working on various assignments encompassing 
duties such as new product introductions, management development 
activities and government relations.</div>

<strong> To the United States…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The
 learning curve had come to its saturation point at TAS. Arun Kumar was 
looking for new frontiers. So it was decided that he would have to 
pursue his ambitions through the pedestal of much industrial and 
entrepreneurial revolution of the world in the 19th& 20th centuries –
 the United States.</div>

The best way to succeed in the land of dream 
as most considered was to equip oneself with the right education and 
knowledge before setting foot on the path to the ever-enterprising 
journey of entrepreneurship. Thus, he packed his bags and off he went to
 the US in 1978 to pursue a management degree from the Sloan School Of 
Management at MIT. Even at the MIT he continued with activities that he 
had undertaken as a student at the University of Kerala. He was 
President of Sangam – the India Association of MIT</div>

He joined Elxsi
 – the venture-funded mini-computer company in 1980 after finishing his 
MBA.As controller of the company he led the finance and administration 
departments and established the MRP process as well as the ERP 
infrastructure of the company besides working with many investment 
bankers on major placements.</div>

<strong>Entrepreneur express himself…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After
 working for more than 3 years at Elxsi, he then shifted gears to 
co-found a company called Cydrome Inc. in 1984. The Milpitas-based 
company was a pioneer in the mini-supercomputer segment and Arun besides
 being the Co-Founder and member of the board of its directors, also 
assumed additional responsibilities as its CFO and VP operations. This 
was a very crucial phase in the career of Arun Kumar as he went about 
making it the success the co-founders had envisioned it to be, by 
establishing and managing financial processes, manufacturing operations,
 and the all-important, MIS.</div>

With such kind of effort put in 
through the close to five years it had been under the leadership of Arun
 Kumar and the other co-founders, it was bound to attract the attention 
of technology leaders and, accordingly, it was acquired by 
Hewlett-Packard which rechristened it as PA-RISC Architecture.</div>

Arun
 Kumar next milestone was to the brief (14 months) stint as director of 
planning and management information of the workstations and servers 
company based of Mountain View called Silicon Graphics.</div>

The next 6
 years or so were the perfect prelude to his long KPMG association. He 
took up a couple of external responsibilities such as the Vice President
 and CFO of Elite Microelectronics Inc. which dealt in fabless 
semiconductors (for which he established sourcing and distribution 
arrangements from Japan and Taiwan)as well as that of Netlabs Inc. the 
network management software company, Netlabs Inc., (involved in 
financing, strategic alliances, and ops) and followed these two brief 
stints by setting up yet another company called Planning and Logic Inc. 
in 1993. This new company was a pioneer in creating planning and 
logistics software applications and was merged with another company of 
similar profile in a couple years since its inception.</div>

<strong>KPMG…1</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After
 successfully working and delivering for other companies in various 
capacities as well as himself successfully launching and selling off two
 companies, time was ripe for yet another change for Arun Kumar.</div>

But
 this was to be the most long-lasting as well as perhaps the most 
satisfying as well as enriching experiences ever that Kumar would have.</div>

He
 joined KPMG in the July of 1995 and ever since right upto his alignment
 with the government of USA under the then President, Barack Obama, he 
has never looked back. His success is defined more in how he has helped 
shape so much good around through the various capacities he took up with
 the global consulting leader rather than his own growth.</div>

<strong>The Whitehouse beckoned…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Arun Kumar
 had spent 18 long years of his life at KPMG assuming very high profile 
responsibilities and doing well. Thus when President Obama and Co., were
 looking for an experienced hand to help them with their global export 
and inward investment promotion efforts, they didn’t have to look 
further than Arun Kumar. The choice was very simple – the man had such 
credentials as very few others had besides of course his international 
experience of working with scores of clients and heling them realize

From being a lonely teenager forced to subsist on just a 
loaf of bread and peanut butter though a whole week and chances looking 
forever bleak of a revival in fortunes, Rick Goings, the super 
successful and highly philanthropic CEO of Tupperware Brands 
Corporation, had everything to gain and nothing to lose when a 
serendipitous interaction helped change his life-forever. It changed his
 outlook toward life, opened his eyes to a small yet fruitful window of 
opportunity that he never imagined existed. Such is the beauty of life 
and its vagaries that when you have your backs against the wall and 
everything is seemingly lost, there could still be that slice of luck 
knocking your door that you need to grab hold of and work hard to make 
good of it.</div>

<strong>The Spark</strong></div>

Teenage
 could be passing off simply as a waft for some but not for Rick Goings.
 He was forced by family circumstances to live out of home – all on his 
own. It was during this period of relative struggle that Goings found 
the spark that would lead him the direction of a successful life. 
Although it didn’t exactly set everything flying but it definitely 
allowed him to find his bearings and move in every step of life with the
 required zeal and confidence.</div>

The spark came from an unlikely 
source. Out of home at 17 meant Goings had to slog it out to make ends 
meet. Accordingly, he quit school and started out with door-to-door 
selling – he carried Grolier Society Encyclopedias around the Wheaton 
and other Chicago suburbs. During one such visit he met a couple and 
showed them fare he had brought along. However, like all of his attempts
 to converting a meeting into a sale, this one too failed to register a 
sale. But, one thing that was vastly different was that although the 
couple didn’t buy, they were kind of nice to him. The interaction, brief
 though it was, helped Goings to know a little more about the husband. 
The husband worked in the navy and seemed to be doing well (owned a 
house, etc.).</div>

The nature of the husband’s job made sense to Goings
 who had up till then never given it a thought. But now equipped with 
evidence of what it can do, he quit selling encyclopedias and went to 
Navy Pier at Lake Michigan and got himself enlisted. Goings was in 
training three months later. Joining the navy would prove to be the 
game-changer for him as it, primarily allowed him to stay afloat under 
trying circumstances and then also showed him the way to keep working at
 it and succeed even. He acquired leadership skills as well (learned to 
be a leader for the first time in his life after he became the platoon 
leader of his crew after a successful test) which have not only helped 
him prosper but also have made him held out so many others though his 
long and rewarding journey as a business leader.</div>

<strong> College, early entrepreneurship, and into the top roles…</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
After
 his much rewarding stint with the navy through the course of which he 
also had the experience of working overseas, he joined college but it 
didn’t sustain his interest enough to make him stay the course. So, he 
quit college mid-way and along with a bunch of friends founded a 
distributorship that did direct sales of home fire alarm systems - the 
product "Pyro Sentinel Heat Detection System" direct sales was the first
 of its kind in the US.</div>

Since fire safety alarms weren’t common 
back then, it took off well and became a success. But, he had to split 
the partnership with his friends and start a new company called 
Dynamics, Inc. in Charlottesville (VA) that dealt with smoke detectors. 
This was a success too and it continued to give him all that he had 
hoped for in life.</div>

From owning a business and making it so 
successful that he could sell it off (yes he did, as by now there had 
grown enough competition and he couldn’t let the opportunity to make 
good slip by) and move to pursue other things.</div>

And so he did. His 
sales experience, his global exposure, and success as a businessman all 
conjured up to give him a senior position at Avon – the then leader in 
the US market. In the seven years at Avon he held several top positions 
including president of Avon Germany, group vice president & senior 
operating officer for the Pacific Rim, and president of Avon USA.</div>

<strong>Tupperware saga…under Goings</strong></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Although
 Tupperware was established in 1946 it was nowhere near the global 
lifestyle solutions and beauty products company it has become today. And
 almost all of it could be attributed to the single-minded focus of Rick
 Goings, whose leadership has enabled the company to thrive with a 
multi-billion dollar portfolio and global scale of the corporation - 
much of that growth coming from emerging markets something that Goings 
focused on right after he took over when he stressed on branching out to
 Latin America and Asia.  Now almost 95% of its revenues come from 
outside the US – all pivoted around Goings’ contemporizing the company’s
 entire business model, including product lines, party selling system, 
and compensation and recruiting approaches.</div>

By the time Goings 
joined Tupperware in 1992 he was well and truly into the social aspect 
of entrepreneurship. The philanthropist in him had been knocking the 
doors ever since he succeeded with his business. But, now was the time 
to help that takes shape.</div>

That he was damn serious about it is 
evident from the fact that he put a precondition for taking over the 
reins of Tupperware as its CEO only if the company focused on two very 
specific things as part of its charitable involvement:  women’s issues 
and Boys & Girls Clubs.</div>

Of course, there would be no 
charitable cause run if the business was not profitable enough as he 
puts it “philanthropy and profitability are complimentary.” Therefore 
one of the foremost things he did was to realign the company’s 
operations presence from a primarily US-centric to that of a global one.
 One of the reasons for him to lay emphasis on the overseas market was 
the increasing difficulty of direct sales models in the US. Thus the 
“Tupperware home party social networking” that was a proven success in 
the US in early decades of the company’s inception, repeated it with 
such popularity that within just four years since the measures were 
taken by Goings, the company’s overseas revenues grew to a whopping $1 
billion, a fact that led to the company being spun-off from the parent 
company (the new entity retaining Goings as the CEO).</div>

Today, 
Tupperware has a 3.1 million strong global sales force that has clocked 
revenues of $2.2 billion in 2016 and, along the way, enabling the
